- Are smart locks secure enough for a front door?
- The good ones are, if they're fitted properly and paired with a decent cylinder or a sound multipoint mechanism. The risk with smart locks is usually a cheap unit fitted badly, not the concept. We'll tell you which are worth it and which to avoid, and we always leave a mechanical key override.
- What happens if the battery dies?
- Every smart lock we fit keeps a mechanical key as a backup, so a flat battery never locks you out. Most also warn you for weeks before the battery is actually low.
- Can you fit a smart lock to my uPVC door?
- Yes. Many smart locks replace just the euro cylinder, so the multipoint mechanism and the door stay as they are. Others are motorised units that drive the multipoint for you. We'll match one to your door.
- Can guests at my holiday let get their own code?
- Yes — that's one of the best uses for a smart lock. You issue a code or app access per booking and change it between guests, with no keys to hand over or get copied.
