Fixed, not replaced — where the lock is worth saving.
Door lock repair across Bedfordshire
A lock that's stiff, a key that won't turn, a handle that's dropped or a latch that won't catch. Mortice locks, euro cylinders, night latches, and patio, French, garage and letterbox locks too. Most are a repair, not a replacement — cleaned, adjusted and back to working from £89.
- We repair first and only replace what's genuinely worn out
- Advice on keeping the lock going longer, not an upsell
- A free quote, agreed before we set off

Questions we get asked
- Is it cheaper to repair a lock or replace it?
- Repair, in most cases. Cleaning, re-lubricating and adjusting a lock from £89 is a lot less than a new mechanism plus fitting. We only recommend replacement when a part is genuinely worn out or the lock is past its service life.
- My key won't turn in the lock — what's wrong?
- Usually one of three things: the lock is dry and gummed up, the door has dropped so the bolt is binding on the keep, or a pin or spring inside the cylinder has failed. The first two are a straightforward repair. Don't force the key — a stiff key that gets forced is how keys snap.
- How much does lock repair cost in Bedfordshire?
- From £89 for a mechanism clean and fix, £59–£161 for latch and strike-plate work, £111–£234 for realigning a dropped door. Labour only unless a part is needed, and you get the range before we start.
- Can you repair a lock the same day?
- Most repairs, yes. Cleaning, adjustment and common part swaps are done on the visit. Only an unusual or obsolete part means a short wait while it's ordered, and we'll secure the door in the meantime if it's needed.
- The handle on my door has dropped. Is that the lock?
- Usually it's the spring in the handle set or the spindle, not the lock itself, and it's a quick part swap. Sometimes a dropped handle is the first sign the multipoint mechanism behind it is on the way out, so we check that while we're there.
